Solar electricity/photovoltaic
Solar electric systems use the sun to generate electricity. Sunlight is converted into electricity through Photovoltaic panels (PV). These are solid-state semiconductors that generate electric current when exposed to light. They provide clean, reliable and noise-free electricity.
A PV system may not meet all your electricity needs, as current PV technology is less than 100% efficient; however it may provide a significant contribution. PV panels are most effective in bright sunlight and their optimum position is a south facing roof slope, however they are still able to produce limited power on cloudy days.
They can be connected to a two-way meter, which will allow you to sell or import electricity to and from the grid depending on your needs.
