Biomass

Biomass is organic material that contains stored energy from the sun, in the form of plants (wood and energy crops) and animal waste (sewage and animal litter), which generates heat and/or electricity.

Typical applications for biomass include space heating, hot water and if combined heat and power units are used; a combination of electricity and heat.

When considering biomass you need to consider where your fuel supply is coming from, if it is readily available, in the case of wood fuel, how dense it is (the denser and drier the wood the more energy you will get out of it), how much space is required to store the fuel and whether you need an automated or manual feed system.
